Wangsimni, Hanyang & Seongsu
Seongdong-gu mixes three building generations within walking distance: student one-rooms pressed against the Hanyang campus, the big new Wangsimni apartment towers, and the converted warehouses and cafes of Seongsu. Each one fails differently — and bills differently.
Three building types, three playbooks
- Sageun & Haengdang one-rooms (the Hanyang belt). Hanyang has one of the largest international student bodies in Seoul, and most of it lives in the older multi-family blocks ringing the campus hill. Shared stacks, bathroom add-ons, and the end-of-semester move-out rush — when a deposit is on the line, our photo record of what actually caused a clog is worth more than the repair.
- Wangsimni new-town towers. Newer complexes with professional management offices. Unit plumbing is usually sound; what reaches us is fixture work, kitchen lines, and the "is it my pipe or the building's?" question — which the management office will ask you to prove. We coordinate with 관리실 in Korean as part of the job.
- Seongsu cafes and shops. Converted industrial buildings running commercial kitchens on pipes that never expected espresso grounds and fryer oil. A mid-service backup closes the floor; scheduled line jetting before the weekend beats an emergency during it.
Renters anywhere in this mix: before paying for anything expensive, read who pays — landlord or tenant. The answer turns on the cause, and the cause is what we document on every visit.

For tower apartments, let the management office know a plumber is coming — access to pipe shafts and water shutoffs goes through them. For one-rooms, tell us the floor and whether the building has an elevator. Shop owners: send photos of the drain and your floor plan if you have one, and tell us your quiet hours — we schedule around service, not through it.
